My Newest Creations
Here is a small sample of my newest work which I will update every few weeks.Microscale Town Model
This is my very first “microscale” creation, one that I found extremely interesting and fun. This scale is 1:192, which basically means people are represented by a 1x1 LEGO piece. This particular piece is for marketing purposes, and will be placed in my Chiropractor’s office as he was gracious enough to accept it. I was limited in size to what would fit in a small display case, so I could only build four buildings. The look is that of a small downtown shopping district on what could be a Sunday afternoon.
I found it fascinating working on such a small scale. The smaller pieces that I have been accumulating were put to good use. The important part was getting just enough architectural details onto the buildings. Since I was using only my existing inventory and had to finish this quickly, I wasn’t able to use some of the pieces I would have liked to.
The piece took about 4-5 days to complete, as I tried a couple of different looks for the buildings. I was hoping to have more people and cars, but did not have enough of the LEGO pieces I needed.
After having done my first microscale model, I plan on doing more in the future. I have hopes that I will get a commission to do an architectural model of a building, shopping center or any other type in the near future.
Birthday Cake
Ever since I started this business I have wanted to create a birthday cake out of LEGO bricks. This is my first attempt. The original plans called for twelve pieces so that the entire cake could be taken apart. After building 3-4 individual pieces, I realized that it would just take too long and I had a show coming up in a few days. So the cake has six pieces on one half, and the other half does not come apart.
It took forever to finish the cake, and there are a lot of things I would do differently on future versions. But I like how it turned out, especially the 1x2 tiles on the plate. I am going to offer this in a few versions:
- Only one slice is removable
- Half the cake (six pieces) are removable
- The whole cake (12 pieces) can be taken apart
There will also be a smaller version that is not so expensive, probably around eight inch diameter as opposed to the fifteen inch diameter of this one.
There are a few other pieces in the works, and they will be posted when complete. Keep checking back.
