Bionic Bricks started as group of three spaceships that left Earth sometime in the near future. Their mission was to terraform a distant planet that was deemed similar enough to Earth to support life once terraformed. Specialized Nanites were constructed just for this purpose. But the mission was jeopardized when the three ships were pulled into a giant black hole, and sent to another part of the universe.
One of the ships crash landed on a dead planet they called that was devoid of the necessary elements for terraforming. The Nanite canisters were broken open in the crash, and attempted to perform their mission. But without the proper materials, their mission evolved over time into something completely different. They created life, but not as we know it.
